In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Sougata Ray of TMC won in this seat defeating Samik Bhattacharya of BJP by a margin of 53,002 votes which was 4.4% of the total votes cast for the seat. TMC had a vote share of 42.51% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Saugata Roy of TMC emerged victorious in this seat beating Asim Kumar Dasgupta of CPM by a margin of 1,54,934 votes which was 13.68% of the total votes polled in the constituency. TMC secured a vote share of 42.67% in the seat.
