In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of INC won in this seat defeating Apurba Sarkar (David) of TMC by a margin of 80,696 votes which was 6.21% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 45.43% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Indranil Sen of TMC by a margin of 3,56,567 votes which was 30.88% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC secured a vote share of 50.54% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury of INC won this seat beating Pramothes Mukherjee of RSP by a margin of 1,86,977 votes which was 19.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 56.91% in the seat.
