In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Aparupa Poddar (Afrin Ali) of TMC won in this seat defeating Tapan Kumar Ray of BJP by a margin of 1,142 votes which was 0.08% of the total votes cast for the seat. TMC had a vote share of 44.14% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Aparupa Poddar (Afrin Ali) of TMC emerged victorious in this seat beating Saktimohan Malik of CPM by a margin of 3,46,845 votes which was 25.47% of the total votes polled in the constituency. TMC secured a vote share of 54.98% in the seat.
