In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ramesh Chand of BJP won in this seat defeating Rangnath Mishra of BSP by a margin of 43,615 votes which was 4.2% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 49.05% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Virendra Singh of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Rakesh Dhar Tripathi of BSP by a margin of 1,58,141 votes which was 16.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP secured a vote share of 41.11% in the seat.
