In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Gnanathiraviam S of DMK won in this seat defeating Paul Manoj Pandian of AIADMK by a margin of 1,85,720 votes which was 17.85% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 50.27% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, Prabakaran K R P of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Devadasa Sundaram of DMK by a margin of 1,26,099 votes which was 13.1% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 41.37% in the seat.
