In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Palanimanickam,S S of DMK won in this seat defeating Natarajan,N R of TMCM by a margin of 3,68,129 votes which was 34.75% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 55.56% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Parasuraman K of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating BaaluTR of DMK by a margin of 1,44,119 votes which was 14.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 50.41% in the seat.
