In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dhanush M Kumar of DMK won in this seat defeating Dr Krishnasamy K of AIADMK by a margin of 1,20,767 votes which was 11.34% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 44.67% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Vasanthi M of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating DrKrishnasamyK of PTTL by a margin of 1,61,774 votes which was 15.89% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 41.71% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Lingam P of CPI won this seat beating Vellaipandi G of INC by a margin of 34,677 votes which was 4.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPI had a vote share of 37.66% in the seat.
