In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Chinraj A K P of DMK won in this seat defeating Kaliappan P of AIADMK by a margin of 2,65,151 votes which was 23.39% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 55.23% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Sundaram P R of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating GandhiselvanS of DMK by a margin of 2,94,374 votes which was 27.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 53.2% in the seat.
