In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Selvam G of DMK won in this seat defeating Maragatham K of AIADMK by a margin of 2,86,632 votes which was 23.16% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 55.24% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Maragatham K of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Selvam G of DMK by a margin of 1,46,866 votes which was 13.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 44.26% in the seat.
