In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, T Sumathy (A) Thamizhachi Thangapandian of DMK won in this seat defeating Dr J Jayavardhan of AIADMK by a margin of 2,62,223 votes which was 23.29% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 50.15% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, J Jayavardhan of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating TKSElangovan of DMK by a margin of 1,35,575 votes which was 12.54% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 40.55% in the seat.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Rajendran C of AIADMK won this seat beating Bharathy RS of DMK by a margin of 32,935 votes which was 4.52% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK had a vote share of 42.38% in the seat.
