In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dayanidhi Maran of DMK won in this seat defeating Sam Paul S R of PMK by a margin of 3,01,520 votes which was 38.39% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 57.13% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Vijaya Kumar S R of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Dayanidhi Maran of DMK by a margin of 45,841 votes which was 5.63% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 40.9% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Dayanidhi Maran of DMK won this seat beating Mogamed Ali Jinnah SMK of ADMK by a margin of 33,454 votes which was 5.48% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 46.79% in the seat.
