In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, S Jagathrakshakan of DMK won in this seat defeating A K Moorthy of PMK by a margin of 3,28,956 votes which was 27.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 56.98% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Hari G of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Elango, NR of DMK by a margin of 2,40,766 votes which was 22.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 45.32% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Jagathrakshakan of DMK won this seat beating Velu R of PMK by a margin of 1,09,796 votes which was 12.84% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 48.54% in the seat.
