In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Sajda Ahmed of TMC won in this seat defeating Joy Banerjee of BJP by a margin of 2,15,359 votes which was 16.43% of the total votes cast for the seat. TMC had a vote share of 53% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Sultan Ahmed of TMC emerged victorious in this seat beating Sabir Uddin Molla of CPM by a margin of 2,01,222 votes which was 16.97% of the total votes polled in the constituency. TMC secured a vote share of 48.13% in the seat.
