In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ramapati Ram Tripathi of BJP won in this seat defeating Binod Kumar Jaiswal of BSP by a margin of 2,49,931 votes which was 24.61% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 57.17% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, Kalraj Mishra of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Niyaj Ahmad of BSP by a margin of 2,65,386 votes which was 27.32% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP secured a vote share of 51.1% in the seat.
