Bulandshahr is a politically significant seat and has been in the limelight since PM Modi’s decision to launch his Lok Sabha campaign for a third term from this seat in January. With almost 18 lakh voters and a Muslim population of 22%, this seat remains a solid BJP stronghold and has bucked the trend of anti-incumbency. It remains one of the eight seats in Western UP’s 14 seats where BJP retained its position in 2019. BJP’s Bhola Singh is a popular MP here and managed to increase his vote share from around 54% in 2014 to 60% in 2019. The BSP is the second largest party here, coming a distant second in 2019 in alliance with the SP. The BJP is confident about winning this seat one more time. All the five assembly segments in Bulandshahr are held by the BJP.<br><br>Bulandhsahr was once a strong bastion of former UP CM and BJP leader Kalyan Singh, and the entire region has been a BJP stronghold since Kalyan Singh’s rise as a state-level politician. Lodh Rajputs, a community Kalyan Singh belonged to, form a sizeable chunk of the electorate here followed by a prominent Dalit population.<br><br>In January this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched development projects exceeding Rs 19,100 crore in Bulandshahr district, Uttar Pradesh. This includes inaugurating a 173-km double-line electrified section between New Khurja in Bulandshahr and New Rewari in Haryana on the dedicated freight corridor and new rail lines connecting Mathura-Palwal and Chipiyana Buzurg-Dadri sections. PM Modi also revealed several road development projects and inaugurated Indian Oil's Tundla-Gawaria pipeline, completed under budget and ahead of schedule at a length of 255 km.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Bhola Singh of BJP won in this seat defeating Yogesh Verma of BSP by a margin of 2,90,057 votes which was 25.81% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 60.56% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Bhola Singh of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Pradeep Kumar Jatav of BSP by a margin of 4,21,973 votes which was 41.79% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP secured a vote share of 59.86% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Kamlesh of SP won this seat beating Ashok Kumar Pradhan of BJP by a margin of 66,065 votes which was 9.88% of the total votes polled in the constituency. SP had a vote share of 35.34% in the seat.
