In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Manickam Tagore, B of INC won in this seat defeating Alagarsamy, R of DMDK by a margin of 1,54,554 votes which was 14.38% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 43.77% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, T Radhakrishnan of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Vaiko of MDMK by a margin of 1,45,551 votes which was 14.4% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 40.23% in the seat.
