In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ravikumar D of DMK won in this seat defeating Vadivel Ravanan S of PMK by a margin of 1,28,068 votes which was 11.28% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 49.25% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Rajendran S of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Muthaiyan K Dr of DMK by a margin of 1,93,367 votes which was 18.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 45.21% in the seat.
