In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, D M Kathir Anand of DMK won in this seat defeating A C Shanmugam of AIADMK by a margin of 8,141 votes which was 0.79% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 47.21% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Senguttuvan B of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Shanmugam, AC of BJP by a margin of 59,393 votes which was 6.1% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 39.39% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Abdul Rahman of DMK won this seat beating Vasu L K M B of ADMK by a margin of 1,07,393 votes which was 14.83% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 49.78% in the seat.
