In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Subbarayan, K of CPI won in this seat defeating Anandan, M S M of AIADMK by a margin of 93,368 votes which was 8.34% of the total votes cast for the seat. CPI had a vote share of 45.42% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Sathyabama V of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating NDineshkumar of DMDK by a margin of 1,79,315 votes which was 17.07% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 42.16% in the seat.
