In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Thirunavukkarasar Su of INC won in this seat defeating Dr Elangovan V of DMDK by a margin of 4,59,286 votes which was 43.82% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 59.24% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Kumar P of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating AnbhalaganMu of DMK by a margin of 1,50,476 votes which was 15.23% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 46.39% in the seat.
