In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Karti P Chidambaram of INC won in this seat defeating H Raja of BJP by a margin of 3,32,244 votes which was 30.64% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 52.18% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, P R Senthilnathan of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Dhurai Raaj Subha of DMK by a margin of 2,29,385 votes which was 22.33% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 46.35% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Chidambaram P of INC won this seat beating Raja Kannappan RS of ADMK by a margin of 3,354 votes which was 0.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 43.12% in the seat.
