In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Shanmuga Sundaram K of DMK won in this seat defeating Mahendran C of AIADMK by a margin of 1,75,883 votes which was 16.26% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 51.23% in 2019 in this seat.
