In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Raja, A of DMK won in this seat defeating Thiyagarajan, M of AIADMK by a margin of 2,05,823 votes which was 20.36% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 54.18% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, C Gopalakrishnan of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Raja, A of DMK by a margin of 1,04,940 votes which was 11.25% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 49.7% in the seat.
