In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Selvaraj M of CPI won in this seat defeating Saravanan M of AIADMK by a margin of 2,11,353 votes which was 21.09% of the total votes cast for the seat. CPI had a vote share of 52.14% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, K Gopal of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Vijayan AKS of DMK by a margin of 1,06,079 votes which was 11.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 46.08% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Vijayan A K S of DMK won this seat beating Selvaraj M of CPI by a margin of 47,962 votes which was 6.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 48.46% in the seat.
