In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ramalingam S of DMK won in this seat defeating Asaimani S of AIADMK by a margin of 2,61,314 votes which was 23.82% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 54.59% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Bharathi Mohan R K of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Hyder AliS of MTMK by a margin of 2,77,050 votes which was 27.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 50.09% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Maniyan O S of AIADMK won this seat beating Mani Shankar Aiyar of INC by a margin of 36,854 votes which was 4.61% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK had a vote share of 45.53% in the seat.
