In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Venkatesan S of CPIM won in this seat defeating Raj Satyen V V R of AIADMK by a margin of 1,39,395 votes which was 13.72% of the total votes cast for the seat. CPIM had a vote share of 43.95% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Gopalkrishnan R of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating V Velusamy of DMK by a margin of 1,99,424 votes which was 20.38% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 46.42% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Alagiri M K of DMK won this seat beating Mohan P of CPM by a margin of 1,40,985 votes which was 17.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 54.45% in the seat.
