In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Jothimani S of INC won in this seat defeating Thambidurai M of AIADMK by a margin of 4,20,546 votes which was 38.12% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 63.04% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, M Thambidurai of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Chinnasamy, M of DMK by a margin of 1,95,247 votes which was 18.66% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 51.67% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Thambidurai M of AIADMK won this seat beating Pallanishamy KC of DMK by a margin of 47,254 votes which was 5.73% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK had a vote share of 46.12% in the seat.
