In the April 6, 2021 bypolls for Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha constituency, Vijayakumar (Alias) Vijay Vasanth of INC won from this seat defeating Radhakrishnan P. of BJP by a margin of 1,37,950 votes which was 12.57% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 52.5% in the bye-elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Vasanthakumar H of INC won in this seat defeating Radhakrishnan P of BJP by a margin of 2,59,933 votes which was 24.79% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 59.77% in 2019 in this seat.
