In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Gautham Sigamani Pon of DMK won in this seat defeating Sudhish L K of DMDK by a margin of 3,99,919 votes which was 33.21% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 59.9% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, K Kamaraj of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Manimaran R of DMK by a margin of 2,23,507 votes which was 20.19% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 48.17% in the seat.
