In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Velusamy, P of DMK won in this seat defeating Jothimuthu, K of PMK by a margin of 5,38,972 votes which was 46.46% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 64.3% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, M Udhayakumar of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Gandhirajan S of DMK by a margin of 1,27,845 votes which was 11.8% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 47.12% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Chitthan N S V of INC won this seat beating Baalasubramani P of ADMK by a margin of 54,347 votes which was 6.62% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 44.06% in the seat.
