In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, T R V S Ramesh of DMK won in this seat defeating Dr R Govindasamy of PMK by a margin of 1,43,983 votes which was 13.8% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 50.05% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Arunmozhithevan A of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating NandagopalakrishnanK of DMK by a margin of 2,03,125 votes which was 20.63% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 48.9% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Alagiri S of INC won this seat beating Sampath M C of ADMK by a margin of 23,532 votes which was 3.14% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 42.73% in the seat.
