In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Natarajan P R of CPIM won in this seat defeating Radhakrishnan C P of BJP by a margin of 1,79,143 votes which was 14.32% of the total votes cast for the seat. CPIM had a vote share of 45.66% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, P Nagarajan of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Radhakrishnan, CP of BJP by a margin of 42,016 votes which was 3.57% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 36.73% in the seat.
