In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dr Kalanidhi Veeraswamy of DMK won in this seat defeating Alagaapuram R Mohanraj of DMDK by a margin of 4,61,518 votes which was 48.3% of the total votes cast for the seat. DMK had a vote share of 61.82% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Venkatesh Babu T G of AIADMK emerged victorious in this seat beating Girirajan R of DMK by a margin of 99,704 votes which was 10.96% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AIADMK secured a vote share of 42.16% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Elangovan T K S of DMK won this seat beating Pandian D of CPI by a margin of 19,153 votes which was 2.9% of the total votes polled in the constituency. DMK had a vote share of 42.59% in the seat.
