In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ve Vaithilingam of INC won in this seat defeating Dr Narayanasamy Kesavan of AINRC by a margin of 1,97,025 votes which was 24.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 56.26% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, R Radhakrishnan of AINRC emerged victorious in this seat beating V Narayanasamy of INC by a margin of 60,854 votes which was 8.22% of the total votes polled in the constituency. AINRC secured a vote share of 34.57% in the seat.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Narayanasamy of INC won this seat beating Ramadass M of PMK by a margin of 91,772 votes which was 15.08% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 49.37% in the seat.
