In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Ashwini Kumar Choubey of BJP won in this seat defeating Jagadanand Singh of RJD by a margin of 1,17,609 votes which was 11.92% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 47.93% in 2019 in this seat.
