In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, T N Prathapan of INC won in this seat defeating Rajaji Mathew Thomas of CPI by a margin of 93,633 votes which was 8.99% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 39.83% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, C N Jayadevan of CPI emerged victorious in this seat beating K P Dhanapalan of INC by a margin of 38,227 votes which was 4.15% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPI secured a vote share of 42.28% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, P C Chacko of INC won this seat beating C N Jayadevan of CPI by a margin of 25,151 votes which was 3.08% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 47.23% in the seat.
