In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, V K Sreekandan of INC won in this seat defeating M B Rajesh of CPIM by a margin of 11,637 votes which was 1.13% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 38.81% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, M B Rajesh of CPM emerged victorious in this seat beating M P Veerendrakumar of SJD by a margin of 1,05,300 votes which was 11.57% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPM secured a vote share of 45.36% in the seat.
