In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, N K Premachandran of RSP won in this seat defeating K N Balagopal of CPIM by a margin of 1,48,856 votes which was 15.38% of the total votes cast for the seat. RSP had a vote share of 51.57% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, N K Premachandran of RSP emerged victorious in this seat beating MA Baby of CPM by a margin of 37,649 votes which was 4.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. RSP secured a vote share of 46.47% in the seat.
