In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, K Sudhakaran of INC won in this seat defeating P K Sreemathi Teacher of CPIM by a margin of 94,559 votes which was 8.97% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 50.22% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, P K Sreemathi Teacher of CPM emerged victorious in this seat beating K Sudhakaran of INC by a margin of 6,566 votes which was 0.69% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPM secured a vote share of 45.15% in the seat.
