In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Adv Adoor Prakash of INC won in this seat defeating Dr A Sampath of CPIM by a margin of 38,247 votes which was 3.81% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 37.87% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, A Sampath of CPM emerged victorious in this seat beating Adv Bindhu Krishna of INC by a margin of 69,378 votes which was 8.07% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPM secured a vote share of 45.67% in the seat.

In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Adv A Sampath of CPM won this seat beating Prof G Balachandran of INC by a margin of 18,341 votes which was 2.54% of the total votes polled in the constituency. CPM had a vote share of 45.36% in the seat.
