In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Vijay Baghel of BJP won in this seat defeating Pratima Chandrakar of INC by a margin of 3,91,978 votes which was 28.16% of the total votes cast for the seat. BJP had a vote share of 60.99% in 2019 in this seat.

In 2014, Tamradhwaj Sahu of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Saroj Pandey of BJP by a margin of 16,848 votes which was 1.34% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC secured a vote share of 45.35% in the seat.
