In the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections, Dr Mohammad Jawed of INC won in this seat defeating Syed Mahmood Ashraf of JDU by a margin of 34,466 votes which was 3.13% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 33.32% in 2019 in this seat.
In 2014, Moh Asrarul Huq of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Dr Dilip Kumar Jaiswal of BJP by a margin of 1,94,612 votes which was 20.96% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC secured a vote share of 53.15% in the seat.
