In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Dr Saptarshi Banerjee of TMC won in this constituency beating Tarak Nath Ghosh of BJP by a margin of 24468 votes which was 10.45% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Dipendu Biswas (Mithu) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Samik Bhattacharya of BJP by a margin of 24058 votes which was 11.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Narayan Mukherjee of CPIM won this seat defeating Narayan Goswami of TMC by a margin of 12400 votes which was 6.66% of the total votes polled for the seat.
