The 2024 United Kingdom general election, to elect 650 Members of Parliament, takes place on Thursday, 4 July. The vote will determine the representatives in the House of Commons, the lower chamber of the United Kingdom parliament. The main contenders are the opposition Labour Party led by Keir Starmer and the governing Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Elections in the UK follow the 'first past the post' system, in which the candidate with the most votes in each constituency becomes the Member of Parliament (MP). This election marks UK's first since leaving the European Union. The last general election held in 2019 saw the Conservative Party, under Prime Minister Boris Johnson, regain a parliamentary majority with 365 seats. However, current opinion polls suggest a significant lead for Labour, threatening to wipe out fourteen years of Conservative rule.

Can Rishi Sunak turn the tide for the Tories and prove the pollsters wrong? Will Keir Starmer secure a Labour landslide and rebuild the red wall? Follow the live updating table on this page to track the result of the Sunak-Starmer faceoff.
