In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD won in this constituency beating Nihar Ray of BJP by a margin of 10,430 votes which was 8.13% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Dilip Kumar Ray of BJP was the winner in this seat beating Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD by a margin of 10,929 votes which was 8.86% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sarada Prasad Nayak of BJD won this seat defeating Ramesh Kumar Agrawal of BJP by a margin of 25,596 votes which was 29.61% of the total votes polled for the seat.
