In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Padmini Dian of BJD won in this constituency beating Chandra Sekhar Majhi of INC by a margin of 2,631 votes which was 1.57% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Chandra Sekhar Majhi of INC was the winner in this seat beating Ashok Kumar Pangi of BJD by a margin of 31,321 votes which was 21.21% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Basudev Majhi of INC won this seat defeating Gopi Nath Nayak of BJD by a margin of 11,234 votes which was 9.21% of the total votes polled for the seat.
