In the 2009 Assembly elections, Raghuram Padal of BJD won this seat defeating Krishna Chandra Sagaria of INC by a margin of 1,114 votes which was 1.17% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Raghu Ram Padal of BJD had a vote share of 35.19% in this seat. In 2014, Krishna Chandra Sagaria of INC secured a vote share of 40.65% in this constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Raghuram Padal of BJD got a vote share of 34.97% in Koraput.
