In 2014, Seemarani Nayak of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Laxmidhar Behera of BJP by a margin of 50,499 votes which was 29.89% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Anjali Behera of BJD won this seat defeating Rebati Behera of INC by a margin of 15,039 votes which was 11.18% of the total votes polled for the seat.
