In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, K Pachhunga of MNF won in this seat defeating R Lalnunthara of INC by a margin of 2,441 which was 16.82% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 43.03% in 2018 in this seat.
In 2013, S Laldingliana of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating Dr K Pachhunga of MNF by a margin of 450 votes which was 3.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 47.45% in the seat.
In the 2008 elections, S Laldingliana of INC won this seat beating Z H Ropuia of MNF by a margin of 1,041 votes which was 8.79% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 44.54% in the seat.

Lunglei South comprises of the following areas of Lunglei district in the South region of Mizoram: Wd No 14 Salem, Wd No 16 lunglawn, Wd No 17 luangmual, Wd No 18 Sethlun, Wd No 19 Theiriat, and Wd No 20 Hrangchalkawn in lunglei (Notified Town) and Villages Sairep, Thaizawl, Bualte, Thualthu, mualthuam 'S', S mualcheng, N Tawipui, S Tawipui, Thingfal, mamte, Thlengang, Thangpui, Thangte, Chithar, Vaisam, Runtung, and Buknuam in lunglei R D Block; and Khawmawi, Samang, Zehtet, mautlang, lalnutui, South lungrang, Rualalung, Vairawkai, Hmunthar, Chawngte 'l', Gulsil and Sailen in lungsen R D Block.
