In the 2018 Mizoram Assembly elections, Dr Zr Thiamsanga of MNF won in this seat defeating T T Zothansanga of INC by a margin of 1,093 which was 7.41% of the total votes cast for the seat. MNF had a vote share of 41.08% in 2018 in this seat.
In 2013, T T Zothansanga of INC emerged victorious in this seat beating T C Kaphmingthanga of MNF by a margin of 1,470 votes which was 10.51% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 42.44% in the seat.
In the 2008 elections, T T Zothansanga of INC won this seat beating Zoramthanga of MNF by a margin of 1,256 votes which was 9.86% of the total votes polled in the constituency. MNF had a vote share of 44.75% in the seat.

Champhai North comprises of the following areas of Champhai district in the North region of Mizoram: Wd No 1 Vengsang, Wd No 2 Kahrawt, Wd No 3 Vengthlang, Wd No 9 Hmunhmeltha and Wd No 10 Zote in Champhai (Notified Town), and Villages of Pamchung, Tualcheng, lungphunlian, Khuangphah, Hnahlan, Rabung, Aiduzawl, murlen, N e Diltlang, Vapar, Ngur, N Khawbung, Tualpui, Ngaizawl, Neihdawn and mualzen in Khawzawl R D Block; and Villages Selam and Vaikhawtlang in Ngopa R D Block.
